A unit to help you to develop your English writing and reading abilities

The University of Sydney has introduced a new unit to help you learn to write excellent texts at university level, whether these are essays, reports, critiques or other types.

ENGL 1000 is a highly practical unit. All examples for discussion are real university texts. Many are texts written by students, both highly accomplished and unsuccessful ones, and examples are drawn from a wide range of disciplines.

Practical writing tasks will also enable you to receive a lot of feedback and to revise your texts in response to the new knowledge about English you'll be learning.

There's also an opportunity to learn basic grammatical concepts important for university work (if you haven't already done so), and a few more advanced grammatical concepts that are particularly useful for editing your draft writing.
