This investigation of Australian cultural history in
the nineteenth and twentieth centuries covers a flexible
range of topics, including landscapes, acclimatisation,
food, gardening, romance, literacy, modernism, childhood,
bohemians, sport, beach culture, shopping, architecture,
Hollywood, comics and the overseas trip.
