CUBA
Cuba is an island country, the largest in the Caribbean Islands.
The island's major resource is sugar, in fact it is the second largest producer of sugar in the world.
It was the first country outside of Eastern Europe that went socialist. Therefore, for the Soviets it was seen as a very important place to defend.
Before Castor's revolution, Cuba was the playground for American tourists. Tourism in Havana was run by the Mafia and the US government supported the Cuban dictatorship.
Cuba is situated 90 miles, or 140 kilometres off the American Florida coast.
